WANTS/NEEDS Art Gallery Announces Group Exhibition with Santa Barbara Artists Challenging the Contemporary Art Scene

Title: The Frontier Project

The WANTS/NEEDS Art Gallery, a vibrant hub for unique emerging talent in the contemporary art scene, is thrilled to announce its latest exhibition opening on February 24, 2024. This exhibition will feature seven local and regional artists that challenge the contemporary art scene, in a new annual exhibition titled “The Frontier Project.”

In support of the exhibition, WANTS/NEEDS Art Gallery will be partnering with The Eddy (137 E. De La Guerra St. SB, CA 93101) for the March 7 First Thursday event at the Santa Barbara location. For this event, two of seven artists from The Frontier Project will be featured. These two artists, (Demi Boelsterli and Michael Matheson), will have artworks available for purchase. WANTS/NEEDS Art Gallery will also feature the ceramics of two Santa Barbara-based artists (Meiya Sydney and Mia Franco).

Ben Pecorari, the Owner and Co-Curator of the exhibition, expressed his sentiment on showing work at The Eddy in support of The Frontier Project, “Several WANTS/NEEDS Gallery staff members are currently based in Santa Barbara, including myself. We are so honored to have the opportunity to share Santa Barbara-based artists in our show, The Frontier Project. We are beyond grateful to The Eddy for partnering with us and supporting these artists for the March First Thursday event at their location!”

The opening reception of The Frontier Project will be hosted on Saturday, February 24 from 5 – 9 pm at the WANTS/NEEDS Art Gallery based in Ventura. All folks are welcome to join the public opening and celebrate the selected artists for the group show.

The Frontier Project: You are challenged to explore it! 

The Frontier Project, opening February 24, 2024, will consist of a group of seven (7) artists that WANTS/NEEDS curators have been hand-selecting over the previous year. This group of emerging artists has been chosen because we believe they are positively challenging the contemporary art scene. The artists include: Demi Boelsterli, Sofia Heftersmith, Jake Himovitz, Matt Hunter, Elijah Jimenez, Michael Matheson, and Jason Vivona.
