Various Organizations Will Host Senior Health & Wellness Activities Wednesday, May 25th

May 25, 2022 @ 10:00 am PDT

More than 100,000 U.S. older adults will participate in local health and fitness events on Wednesday, May 25th as part of the 29th annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day®, In addition to in-person health events and activities, online/virtual options will also be available through the 1,000+ local groups that have registered to host events this Wednesday. Organizations hosting senior health and fitness events next Wednesday include retirement communities, Ys/health clubs, senior centers, park districts, local aging groups, and other community organizations. Local health and fitness activities will vary widely based on the organization hosting the event and the interests of the seniors they work with. Activities will be non-competitive and may include walking events, low-impact exercises, health screenings and health information workshops.

Locally, the Central Coast Commission is partnering with LifelongFitness.org to present a free, online balance workshop from 10:00 -11:15 am. This will be an informative session to learn techniques and basic movements that can improve balance skills and help participants to become stronger and more fit. The workshop will include discussion and simple movements that are designed for the older adult, but the techniques can be applied to all ages and levels of fitness.  Click here for the link or go to lifelongfitness.org for more info.
