The conference will feature top scholars and policymakers from Mexico and the United States to initiate dialogue on state-of-the-art research, policy initiatives and current events in immigration, trade, and U.S.-Mexico relations. Additionally, CA Attorney General Xavier Becerra, Congressman Salud Carbajal, CA-24, and former Speaker of the California State Assembly Fabian Núñez will be delivering keynote addresses.

The event is a research/policy conference in which top scholars and policymakers in Mexico and the United States will discuss dynamics of immigration, trade, US-Mexico relations and policy proposals. The conference proceedings will be published collaboratively in the U.S and Mexico.

This event will take place at UC Santa Barbara’s Corwin Pavilion on Friday August 25, 2017 from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and again on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM

In the current context, California and the University of California stand as beacons of hope in promoting and upholding scientific knowledge in vital policy areas, including immigration, trade, development, education, health and international relations. The conference fosters the exchange of scientific knowledge in these areas among Mexican and U.S. scholars and policymakers, emphasizing the role of California, the University of California and its UC-Mexico initiative.
