Trixie Blue EP Debut at SOHO

November 22, 2021 @ 7:00 am PST

Local San Marcos High School Senior, Trixie Blue, did not let the global pandemic get
her down. She turned the isolation and frustration of the shut down into an opportunity to further her
craft and pursue her dream of becoming a singer-songwriter and ROCKSTAR! Be there on November 22,
2021, for the debut performance of her EP 2020 Lockdown at Soho Music Club in downtown Santa
Barbara.
Trixie Blue’s “new normal” was her Sunday concerts which occurred, rain or shine, out of her garage, amps
turned on and serenading her neighborhood with an electric keyboard and a microphone. Her concerts
drew spectators from her neighborhood, passersby, friends, and family. Singing was healing for Trixie Blue
and provided a sense of community and normalcy to all that had the good fortune of listening.
“Music is the realm where I can close my eyes and experience expansion – even when the reality of my
world was limited to my driveway,” explained Trixie Blue.
Soon cover songs from Hall and Oates, Elton John, and Fleetwood Mac, were replaced by originals that
Trixie Blue wrote with Gus Detar of Detar Music, a boutique music studio in Santa Barbara specializing in
education, composition, recording and production. This led to Trixie Blue producing an EP on Soundcloud
comprised of her original songs and music co-created with Gus.
Trixie Blue joined Detar Music at the beginning of ninth grade with a plan to develop her vocals and
collaborate with other artists. Soon after, Jake Detar, who is responsible for forming bands for Detar Music,
chose Trixie to cover for the lead singer of SEVN at the Avocado Festival in Carpinteria, CA. The Trixie Band,
a five-piece band, was formed where she focused mostly on 80’s classic and alt rock. This band played
local festivals and Earth Day. At 15, she started singing on patios at local restaurants, accompanied by a
guitarist. Classic songs from the Beatles, Beach Boys, Elton John, Bowie, with a dash of Billie Eilish.
Superband followed, which had three lead singers. This set up allowed for more complex vocals and 3-part
harmony. Jake created arrangements for songs like, “Mr. Blue Sky” by ELO, “Renegade” by Styx, and “Sweet
Dreams” by the Eurythmics. This band performed at local venues and The Alcazar Theater in Carpinteria,
CA on February 29, 2020. Then, the pandemic shutdown happened and Trixie Blue, undaunted, had to
pivot!
Trixie Blue’s pandemic pivot has led her to where she is today – practicing for what she hopes
will be a sold-out performance at Soho on November 22, 2021, at 7 PM.
