THIRD ANNUAL PIANOS ON STATE MASQ(P)ARADE!

Progressive Performance Parade Showcases Piano-Based Acts

at the Pianos on State Painted Pianos

The 3rd Annual Masq(p)arade! performance progressive will take place on Friday, October 20, 2023, with shows every fifteen minutes from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. This whimsical progressive-style performance parade showcases a series of dynamic piano-based performances, taking place in the heart of Santa Barbara’s historic cultural arts district, in celebration of Pianos on State.

Conceived in 2021 by Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative (SBAC) Outreach Committee members Darian Bleecher and Adrienne De Guevara as an interactive complement to Pianos on State, Masq(p)arade! is quickly becoming an eagerly anticipated Santa Barbara tradition. Masq(p)arade! enlists performers and pianists to create fifteen-minute works to be performed in succession on the final Friday of Pianos on State. These bite-sized performances engage audience members through innovative presentations involving playful masks and fancifully-painted pianos. The event is free to the public, with a brief intermission between acts to allow participants to progress up State Street to enjoy the entire performance series.

The lineup for Masq(p)arade! 2023 is:

5:30 – 5:45 Out of the Box Theatre Company @ State/Carrillo (Montecito Bank & Trust)
6:00 – 6:15 Santa Barbara Improv @ State/Figueroa (Pacific Premier Bank)
6:30 – 6:45 Santa Barbara Gay Men’s Chorus @ State/Anapamu (Old Navy)
7:00 – 7:15 España Nueva Social Club @ State/Anapamu (First Republic Bank)
