A Fundraiser introducing The Plumery
As a brand-new nonprofit, The Plumery has set two immediate goals:
1) creating community awareness about the sad situations facing too many captive pet parrots, and
2)raising funds for our facility. You can help us grow our tree so we can build our nest!
We are a small, dedicated group of professional women and men serving together on a nonprofit board of directors and adjunct advisory panel. Many of us have worked or volunteered in the field of exotic avian care; others are dedicated bird and animal lovers. We made the decision to create a new nonprofit with improved goals, policies and practices adhering to financial and legal standards, a realistic understanding of our challenges, defined plans for fundraising, and a deep desire to care for a niche population of exotic parrots with special needs. Among us, we have academic, institutional, philanthropic, financial, marketing/public relations, veterinary, service, and writing experience. Charged with adhering to state nonprofit law as well as organizational bylaws, our mission and primary responsibility is to care for abandoned, neglected, and abused parrots placed in our care.
