The National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) presents the Winter/Spring 2021 Seminar Series – Environmental Justice and Ecological Blindspots

February 4, 2021 @ 12:00 pm PST

Join us for the NCEAS Winter/Spring 2021 Seminar Series.

Dr. Gillian Bowser will lead the first seminar in this free series, titled “Environmental Justice and Ecological Blindspots”. Environmental and climate justice are two emerging crises tied closely with changing climate and sustainable development paradigms. How do scientists in ecology and environmental science both explore these issues but also co-create the questions with stakeholders? Diversity in the environmental fields is one blind spot for ecologists where the communities most often represented in the issues of environmental conflicts such as Standing Rock are demographically different from the scientists exploring the issues. In this talk, we will explore environmental justice through the perspective of co-creating questions of broader impacts in the ecological sciences.
