Ten Million Ways to Discover Your Family History

November 16, 2019 @ 10:30 am PST

Dr. Brian Leverich will present “Linkpendium: Ten Million and One New Ways to Discover Your Family History” at the Saturday, November 16th monthly meeting at the First Presbyterian Church, 21 E. Constance at State Street, 9:30 am to 12:00 pm.

We can access many outstanding genealogical resources via the Internet. Libraries, genealogical/historical societies, governments, volunteer projects, and individuals have brought vast amounts of information online. We will learn how to craft more effective search engine queries, why even the best queries sometimes fail, and how to use Linkpendium’s directory and search engine to find hidden genealogical gems.

Dr. Brian Leverich holds a Ph.D. from the Pardee RAND Graduate School. His love of history led him to genealogy 4 decades ago, and he was one of the pioneers of Internet genealogy in the early 1980s. He was the founding moderator of soc.genealogy.methods, the first Internet group dedicated to genealogical research methods. He is the co-founder of RootsWeb.com and remains active today as one of the principals maintaining and developing Linkpendium.com.

Special Interest Groups meet at 9:30 am for New Member & Beginning Genealogy, Civil War Genealogy, Writers’ Support Group, German Ancestry, Italian Genealogy, Jewish Genealogy, French Canadian Genealogy, Scandinavian Genealogy, Computer Genealogy, and DNA.  The Society Monthly meeting starts at 10:30 and the featured speaker starts at 11:00am.

Come join us. You do not need to be a member to enjoy this wonderful free presentation.
A calendar of genealogical events can be found at the Society web site (http://sbgen.org/eventListings.php?nm=216).
