Sustainable Table

November 4, 2017 @ 5:00 am PDT

Join Explore Ecology on Saturday, November 4th, at 5:00 pm for the First Annual Sustainable Table, a re-imagined farm-to-table dinner and benefit at the beautiful Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm. Sustainable Table’s seven course, zero waste menu, created by Chef Clark Staub of Full of Life Flatbread and Alix Mascuzzio and Allie Chandler of the Slate Catering Co., will highlight fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local organic farms. The evening’s festivities include a delicious hyper-local feast, farm-to-bar cocktails, gorgeous grazing tables, and live music and dancing under the greenhouse stars.

The evening begins with a Welcoming Reception on the seaside bluffs, with Third Window Brewery beer and cocktails created by Farm-to-Bar Mixologist Shaun Belway.

Popular local duo O.n.E. will play acoustic music, while guests take in the dramatic views of the breathtaking Gaviota Coast and enjoy wood-fired flatbreads and farmers market-inspired grazing tables.

As the sun sets, guests will make their way through the lush grounds of the Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm to the main greenhouse where they’ll enjoy a seven-course, family style farm-to-table dinner, learn about the land, the farmers, the winemakers, and the chefs who have nurtured each ingredient.

The diverse and adventurous menu includes Edible Centerpieces, a Veggie Tasting, Grazing Tables by Full of Life Flatbread and Slate Catering, Santa Barbara Seafood, Watkins Ranch Beef, and Uni Ice Cream.

After dinner and dessert, the Bryan Titus Trio will perform. Known for their “Postmodern Barn Dance style music,” the band has recently completed a tour of the West Coast in support of their new EP.

Bryan Titus says, “I grew up on my grandparents’ vegetable farm in New England. I was lucky to be raised to know where crops came from and how much hard work is required to raise them. We love to do our part to spread the word about sustainability and are delighted to partner with organizations who share this mission and have a broader reach!”

“Sustainable Table is a re-imagined Farm-To-Table event that strives to shine a light on sustainable farming in our community while approaching cuisine with a ‘waste not’ attitude.” says Susan Tompkins, Explore Ecology Board President. “Sustainable Table is the first in a series presented by and benefiting Explore Ecology, a nonprofit whose mission is to inspire Santa Barbara’s children to engage with the natural world, think critically, and to experience the value of environmental stewardship.”

Tantalize your taste buds and learn about the importance of locally grown, ecologically farmed food at Sustainable Table; a celebration of our local harvest and the gifted farmers of our area. We hope that our community will join us for this farm feast and educational evening. $140 tickets are available online at Explore Ecology.org/SustainableTable. Early Bird Special $120 tickets will be sold until October 15th. Sustainable Table is produced by Cultivate Events.
