St. Mark's to Host Summer Classic in Los Olivos
(Los Olivos, Santa Barbara County, California) — On Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 5:30 p.m., the public is invited to attend St. Mark’s Summer Classic which benefits ongoing programs and the many community outreach and service works that the Church provides for the Santa Ynez Valley throughout the year. Longtime parishioner Andrew Firestone will emcee the dinner and auction event which will take place al fresco on the stunning grounds of St. Mark’s-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church located at 2901 Nojoqui Avenue in Los Olivos.
Proceeds from St. Mark’s Summer Classic support local community programs and services provided by St. Mark’s – including hosting more than 90 area non-profit and civic organizations, meetings, programs and special events annually. Among many others, St. Mark’s welcomes the Santa Ynez Valley Jewish Community, Food Bank of Santa Barbara County, Arts Outreach, Buellton Senior Center, SYV Humane Society, Veggie Rescue, Solvang Festival Theater, First Five Santa Barbara, support networks, recovery groups and county-wide commission meetings.
The 2017 St. Mark’s Summer Classic begins at 5:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres, wines and time to peruse and bid at the silent auction. The live auction will present one-of a kind dinner events as well as treasured lifestyle and travel experiences. Jeff and Janet Olsson of New West Catering will prepare the gourmet foods for the dinner.
According to Church Rector Rev. Dr. Randall Day, “St. Mark's practices a spacious Christianity and serves as the Santa Ynez Valley's community, music, arts and welcome center. We are open daily to what the community actually is and to respond to what it needs. In addition, our Preschool provides top-flight early childhood education.
