SBMM’s “Love Boat” Gala Sets Sail For Alaska – March 6, 2026

March 6 @ 5:00 pm PST

Save the Date: The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum invites you to “Love Boat: Sailing to Alaska” on Friday, March 6, 2026 — a glamorous, land-based gala held at the beautiful Cabrillo Pavilion (1118 E Cabrillo Blvd., Santa Barbara), overlooking the ocean. This signature annual fundraiser draws inspiration from the elegance of an Alaskan cruise, but the event itself takes place on solid ground, in a stunning beachfront venue.

The evening will feature a special tribute honoring ocean explorer and environmentalist Jean‑Michel Cousteau — a night of maritime charm, celebration, and support for SBMM. Jean-Michel Cousteau is a renowned French ocean explorer, environmentalist, educator and film producer who has dedicated his life to protecting the world’s oceans. Born in Toulon in 1938, he began diving at age seven and later founded the nonprofit Ocean Futures Society to advance marine conservation and education globally. Through his media work, expeditions and public outreach, he spotlights the interconnectedness of people and the sea, inspiring stewardship and protecting marine ecosystems for future generations.

Step aboard for an unforgettable night of fine dining, entertainment, auctions, and impact, all benefiting SBMM’s award-winning exhibits and youth education programs.

“Our annual gala is more than a great party—it’s a vital source of support for SBMM’s programs that inspire curiosity, conservation, and community,” said SBMM Board President Alex Weinstein. “As we set sail toward Alaska this year, we invite our friends and supporters to help chart a course for the museum’s future.”

“Every ticket sold, every sponsor, every paddle raised will help us as we continue to reach thousands of students across Santa Barbara County, and beyond,” said SBMM Executive Director TBD. “Our education programs provide hands-on experiences that can be life-changing for many of the youth who participate.
