SB Youth Council (Advisory Board) Accepting Applications NOW!
The Santa Barbara Youth Council is currently accepting applications for new members! The SBYC is a City of Santa Barbara Advisory Board comprised of teens, who are appointed by the Mayor & City Council for a term of two years.
The SBYC represents all teens in the city of Santa Barbara by representing their concerns through Youth Speak Outs on topics such as youth violence, teen suicide, cyber-bullying, reducing underage access to alcohol and drugs, and most recently a Mayoral Candidates Forum that focused on issues effecting teens, in partnership with the PAL Youth Leadership Council and Future Leaders of America.
If you are a teen between the ages of 13 and 18 and interested in developing your leadership skills, learning about youth advocacy, public policy, project & event planning, while getting to know and working directly with our Policy Makers, then the Santa Barbara Youth Council is just for you!
Regular meetings are held on 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month at 5:15 with subcommittee meetings on 2nd and 4th Mondays at 4:30 pm.
