Santa Ynez Valley Concert Series Presents Seraph Brass

November 4 @ 7:00 pm PST
The second concert of the 2025-2026 season for the Santa Ynez Valley Concert Series will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 7pm at St. Mark’s in the Valley. It will feature the acclaimed Seraph Brass.

Ensemble: Mary Elizabeth Bowden, trumpet; Morgen Low, trumpet; Layan Atieh, horn; Lauren Casey-Clyde, trombone; Robyn Black, tuba

Artistic Director, Robert Cassidy, said, “We are lucky to catch this group on tour for our second concert of the season! This fascinating and groundbreaking ensemble performs extensively around the world and is actively commissioning new works. Their magical collective sound will fill our venue and create an unforgettable experience for the audience. Please do not miss this exclusive SoCal performance of Seraph Brass!”

Now in its 12th season, Seraph Brass was founded by trumpet soloist Mary Elizabeth Bowden with a mission to showcase the excellence of women brass players and highlight musicians from marginalized groups, both in personnel and in programming. Winners of the American Prize in Chamber Music, the group has been praised for its “beautiful sounds” (American Record Guide), “fine playing” (Gramophone), and “staggeringly high caliber of performance” (Textura). In addition to performances and residencies, the artists of Seraph Brass perform as a 10-piece ensemble, as soloists with symphony orchestras and wind bands, and in collaboration with other chamber artists.

The November 4th program will include works by Grieg, Liszt, Verdi, as well as living composers including Jeff Scott and Reena Esmail.

After the performance, the increasingly popular Q&A will take place, giving the audience a chance to hear from the musicians about their lives in music, and the repertoire from the concert.
