Santa Paula offering reduced adoptions August 19th

The public and media are invited to join the Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center (S.P.A.R.C.) for a special adoption event on Saturday, August 19, in conjunction with NBC4 and Telemundo 52’s annual “Clear the Shelters” (Desocupar los Albergues) adoption campaign.
This year’s “Clear the Shelters” event takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday August 19. Many pets will be available for adoption at $20 at the Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center, 705 E. Santa Barbara St. in Santa Paula, and the S.P.A.R.C. Second Chance Store, 374 E Main St. in Ventura.
Discounts on many adoptions begin Saturday, August 12, with adoption fees from S.P.A.R.C. reduced to $50 (from $125) for dogs and cats, but not puppies. On August 19, adoption fees drop to $20. All pets will be spayed or neutered, microchipped and have up-to-date vaccinations. Those who see an animal they want to adopt before the Clear the Shelters event are advised to act fast and not to wait, as the pet may be adopted beforehand.

Donations are welcome for S.P.A.R.C.’s Donation Drive that raises funds for medical care for the animals. Free gifts will be given to pet adopters while supplies last and there will be a raffle for prizes.
Clear the Shelters is a nationwide annual campaign hosted by NBC4 Southern California/KNBC and Telemundo 52 Los Angeles/KVEA. Clear the Shelters involves more than 60 animal shelters and rescue organizations throughout Southern California, offering a reduced adoption fee of $20 on Saturday, August 19. Last year’s campaign resulted in over 8,200 animals finding forever homes, according to NBC4. Clear the Shelters raises awareness about the benefits of pet adoption and aims to reduce the animal overpopulation at shelters. During the month-long campaign, the TV stations will cover news stories to spotlight the issue, including the importance of spaying/neutering, the benefits of micro-chipping, and helping families find the right pet for their homes.
