March 3, 2019 @ 2:00 am PST

Art at the JCC Presents: Santa Barbara Visual Artists (SBVA) Exhibit March 3 – April 17

Opening Reception – March 3, 2:00-4:00 PM. Live jazz piano music with Sully, appetizers, wine, and welcoming announcements (3:00). Featuring: Juror – Letitia Haynes

The diversity of the SBVA portfolio appeals to a wide variety of tastes, exhibiting “something for everybody”. The exhibit will also include Sculpture and an array of diverse and high energy artworks.

Several of the artists in the (SBVA) group were impacted by the disasters. In reflection of the Santa Barbara community impacted by the recent disasters, the Santa Barbara Visual Artists are featuring Transformation by Lynn Dodge to support Art at the JCC Fundraiser to direct funds. Lynn’s art is inspired by real life events, from her personal experiences to witnessing the natural and human tragedies that unfold in our daily lives. Her emotional connection to these events are visualized as images she sees in her mind’s eye. With the image set in her mind she begins the creative journey of transforming her vision into art.  Her art and life intersect, using old discarded objects as her mediums she creates something new and powerful (images attached).

Benefit your arts community and those impacted by the recent disasters. Part of the proceeds of every purchase of artwork from this exhibit will go to Jewish Family Service

(JFS), which provides social service, counseling, and grants to those impacted by the disasters, among other vital services to our greater community. JFS Disaster Response has given $43,000 in grants to 60+ families in their recovery following loss of loved ones, homes, jobs & possessions. Trauma counseling and close to 1,000 Case Management hours were provided to those impacted over the course of this post-recovery period. Also, in coordination with community partners, especially as an active member of the Community Wellness Team (CWT).

This is the first time the Jewish Federation’s Bronfman Family Jewish Community Center will host an exhibit with the Santa Barbara Visual Artists (SBVA).  Join us at the Jewish Federation’s Bronfman Family Jewish Community Center, 524 Chapala Street, Santa Barbara CA.
