Charleston’s high-spirited Ranky Tanky is a dynamo quintet exploding onto the music scene with their inspired take on soulful songs of South Carolina’s Gullah culture, mixing the lowcountry traditions of their West African ancestors with dynamic doses of jazz, gospel, funk and R&B. In the unique Creole mix of African and English that has shaped art, language and attitude, their name means “work it” or “get funky” – yes they do, and yes you will!
