Rainwater Harvesting 101

December 7, 2017 @ 6:30 am PST

Rainwater Harvesting 101, MacKenzie Park, Santa Barbara, Thurs, Dec 7th, 6:30-8:00 PM

Missed our recent Rainwater Harvesting 101 class? Don’t worry- we have one more coming up this fall- Thursday, December 7 at MacKenzie Park in Santa Barbara, from 6:30-8:00 pm.

The MacKenzie Park Adult Building, 3111 State Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93105, is located at the corner of Las Positas and State. The entrance to the parking lot is on Las Positas just south of State St., and there is plenty of parking. It’s close to bike lanes and bus lines.  This class is co-sponsored by the City of Santa Barbara Water Conservation Program.

Our rainy season should be starting soon. This is the time to get the information you need to start harvesting rainwater this coming winter.

Rainwater harvesting is the process of capturing rain and making the most of it as close as possible to where it falls.  By harvesting rainwater on the land within the soil and vegetation, or in tanks that will later irrigate the land, it is possible to control erosion, reduce flooding, and minimize water pollution.
