With a rotating lineup of guest instructors, this series explores a variety of playful games and activities designed to wake up your body, loosen your mind, and spark genuine connection.
This series organized and promoted by Pulpo Artlab, a project of DeGuevaraArt Studios, is designed to reintroduce play as a vital part of being human.
With a rotating lineup of guest instructors, Play Date invites grown-ups into a variety of playful, body-awakening, laughter-inducing activities. No performance experience required—just a willingness to show up, try things out, and maybe look a little silly in the best possible way.

Meet the Facilitators
Joe Velasco
Local raconteur, Joe Velasco brings his 35 years of professional theatre experience working with such illustrious companies as El Teatro Campesino and James Donlon and Company to create a space where people can explore a world of intuitive play and creativity. Co-founder of the storytelling group, BOXTALES, Joseph brings a sense of wonder and joy to his work as both a storyteller and director.
Mariangelica Duque
Mariangelica Duque, M.A. is a Colombian-born facilitator, performer, and Positive Psychology coach with a rich background in the arts and healing. She enjoyed a successful career as a screenwriter and actress in Colombia, appearing in acclaimed TV and theater productions before turning her focus to the intersection of creativity, psychology, and well-being. She draws on over two decades of experience in acting, clowning, and storytelling to lead engaging, playful, and evidence-based workshops. Her work blends emotional depth with joyful expression, rooted in the belief that play isn’t a distraction from growth, but a powerful path to it.
Adrienne De Guevara
Interdisciplinary artist and instigator of delight, Adrienne mixes performance, sculpture, and poetic absurdity to coax creative sparks into full flame. With roots as a self-described avant-vaudevilian in the New York 1990’s art scene and a current contributor to Santa Barbara’s arts community, De Guevara’s goal is to support others in rediscovering their sense of creative mischief.
