OPENING ARTIST RECEPTION MONDAY JULY 1. 5- 7 PM
Local oil painter Bobby Williams announces the much-anticipated exhibition of his latest series, “Pillars 2024,” at Gallery Los Olivos. The exhibition, running throughout the month of July, celebrates the culmination of Williams’ five-year exploration, marking the completion of his 100th painting in the series.
Inspired by his relocation from New York City to the central coast a decade ago, Williams delves into the heart of his artistic journey, driven by the rich tapestry of the region’s agricultural landscape. Having honed his craft in the fine-dining industry, where he learned to appreciate the intricacies of sourcing the finest ingredients, Williams now turns his gaze towards the often-overlooked individuals who toil tirelessly to bring these bounties to our tables.
“Pillars 2024” serves as a poignant reflection on the intersection of work and identity, inviting viewers to contemplate the complex narratives of migrant agricultural workers on the central coast. Through his brushstrokes, Williams artfully weaves a tale of both adversity and triumph, encapsulating the dreams, struggles, and unwavering resilience of these unsung heroes.
“It is a tale of both repression and progress… of dreams, and of the dignity in hard work and human resilience,” remarks Williams, urging audiences to engage deeply with the stories embedded within each canvas.
