NatureTrack Film Festival

March 23, 2018 @ 4:00 am - March 25, 2018 @ 4:00 am PDT

The NatureTrack Film Festival (NTFF) has selected films from over 20 different countries for the inaugural event scheduled for March 23 – 25 in Los Olivos, CA. Films from around the world were submitted in a variety of categories, with close to 60 selected for the film festival that truly ignite passion for nature through film. Juried awards determined by a panel of film industry professionals, outdoor guides and teachers will be given out for Best in Category, which includes the Children Connecting with Nature – “Dan Conaway Award,” overall Best in Festival, and an Audience Favorite award.
The NatureTrack Film Festival will kick off with an opening reception, Friday, March 23, 4-6pm, at the historic and newly reopened Mattei’s Tavern prior to screenings that day. A full slate of films will be offered on Saturday, and the festival will conclude on Sunday, March 25, with a half day of programming and a closing reception, 3:00-4:30pm, at The Bear and Star restaurant within the Fess Parker Wine Country Inn, where awards will be presented. During the extended weekend, films will screen at three venues in Los Olivos: the Santa Ynez Valley Grange, the Gates Foss Community Center at Los Olivos School, and St. Mark’s In-The-Valley Church. For more details visit www.naturetrackfilmfestival.org.
Saturday night, the festival will offer a free outdoor screening of Under an Arctic Sky, a visually stunning and heart-pounding film about surfing in the ice-filled arctic waters off Iceland. Bring the family and a blanket, grab some popcorn and hot chocolate and join us on the patio of the Corner House Cafe for this fun evening of cinema under the stars. Under an Arctic Sky will screen promptly at 8:00pm.
Filmmaker “Meet & Greets” are planned for local food and wine establishments, along with special bonus and repeat screenings of select films. NatureTrack will also offer docent led hikes for those wishing to take advantage of the abundant natural beauty of the Santa Ynez Valley for a more immersive outdoor experience. Not-to-be-missed falconry and drone demonstrations will also take place during the NatureTrack Film Festival.
