Lobero LIVE presents Lobero Theatre Chamber Music Project – Season Premiere, Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 7:30 PM.

Lobero LIVE presents The Lobero Theatre Chamber Music Project – Season Premiere on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 7:30 PM. After an almost 3-year hiatus, Santa Barbara’s renowned music director/conductor/violist Heiichiro Ohyama returns to the Lobero for a stellar evening of music by an artfully curated chamber ensemble. This long-anticipated homecoming concert features local legend Maestro Ohyama (who led the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra for 35 years) and three handpicked classical music luminaries – Benjamin Beilman (violin), Lucille Chung (piano), and Edward Arron (cello) – performing selected works by Dvořák and Fauré.

“The Lobero Theatre Chamber Music Project carries on the tradition of camaraderie and excellence that first began in 1977,” said Executive Director David Asbell. “Many in the community enjoyed and supported these high-quality chamber music concerts for decades. We look forward to welcoming them back for this exciting renewed experience.” The project was created in 2020 to continue the tradition established by Maestro Ohyama to provide distinctive annual performances featuring the classical music world’s most talented soloists. Post-pandemic, that legacy continues. The season begins with the fall premiere and is scheduled to return with these and additional performers for a full weekend of great chamber music in May 2023.

“The participating musicians are my colleagues and friends,” said Ohyama. “Each of them is recognized as a great master at the global level.” In recital and chamber music, Benjamin Beilman performs regularly at major halls across the world, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Louvre in Paris. A successful recording artist, as well as recitalist and live concert musician, Lucille Chung has produced 15 albums and performed with over 70 leading orchestras worldwide. A graduate of the Juilliard School, Edward Arron has performed numerous times at Carnegie’s Weill and Zankel Halls, and Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully and Avery Fisher Halls. The chamber ensemble will perform two works – Antonín Dvořák’s Piano Trio No. 4 in E Minor "Dumky" Op. 90, and the Piano Quartet No. 1 in C minor, Op. 15 by Gabriel Fauré.
