Lama Dog announces return of Charity Tap program in May & June with Therapy Dogs of Santa Barbara
LAMA DOG TAP ROOM + BOTTLE SHOP is thrilled to announce the return of its Charity Tap program, which donates a generous 10% of proceeds from the charity tap to a local nonprofit. During the months of May and June, Therapy Dogs of Santa Barbara will be the recipient of this philanthropic donation. The Charity Tap is lucky #17 and features a rotating selection of lagers and pilsners. Owner, Peter Burnham says, “Tap #17 is one our most popular and we are stoked to be partnering with Therapy Dogs for this spring promotion!”
Lama Dog, located in Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone (116 Santa Barbara St, 805.880.3364, www.lamadog.com), features local wine and beer and welcomes dogs and kids along with their adult chaperones. Visitors can enjoy delicious food from The Nook which operates on premise and has a selection of yummy bites from tacos, burgers, salads and more (www.thenooksb.com). You might even get to meet a therapy dog on your visit as the Therapy Dogs of Santa Barbara teams will be on-site at various times throughout the two months, enjoying libations and offering some bona-fide therapy dog hugs. Look for the purple bandanas and smiling pooches!
Therapy Dogs of Santa Barbara was founded by Santa Barbara native Karen Lee Stevens in 1997 to teach children how to safely and respectfully interact with animals. Over the last two decades, the organization has grown to focus on education and mental health programs with the assistance of trained therapy dogs. Their current programs are ARF! (Animals + Reading = Fun!), which promotes literacy among first, second and third grade children, Wag Well, which teaches mindfulness and self-care skills aimed at reducing stress and anxiety, and Therapy Dog Group Visits, which bring happiness to people of all ages at schools, senior care facilities and wellness organizations.
