The Santa Barbara Jazz Society is excited to present the Kristin Korb Trio on Sunday, September 24 at SOhO from 1 to 4. There are few bassists who can sing and there are even fewer who do it well. Kristin Korb is one of those artists who make you forget that she is playing the bass when you hear her crystalline voice. Inspired by the days when music was romantic and made you want to dance, Kristin and her trio embody that spirit and carry their audiences along for the ride. Love eventually brought the American bassist and vocalist to Denmark in 2011, but she is back touring in the US and we are so pleased that she and her stateside musicians, pianist Andy Langham and drummer Ryan Korb, have chosen to entertain us. (Yes, that’s Kristin’s brother!)

Kristin earned her masters in Classical Bass Performance at the University of California, San Diego. She also studied with famous bassist, Ray Brown, with whom she made her recording debut, Introducing Kristin Korb with the Ray Brown Trio, released in 1996. She is very involved in educational outreach and teaches at universities, jazz camps, and festivals with young children. Kristin tours across the world and has performed with jazz artists such as Kim Richmond, Pete Christlieb, and Jeff Hamilton.

Admission to the concert is $15 for Jazz Society members, $25 for non-members, $7 for local jazz musicians with membership, and $5 for full-time students. Tickets are available ONLY at the door and doors open at 12:30. Jazz Society members will be admitted first and seating is limited so plan to arrive early. Please join us for an afternoon of exciting jazz. For more information please call 805-687-7123 or visit our website sbjazz.org
