“In the Heights” coming August 8-10 at La Cumbre Junior High JoAnn Caines Theatre

The Performing & Visual Arts Camp with the Santa Barbara School of Performing Arts will bring 4 performances of “In the Heights” to La Cumbre Junior High JoAnn Caines Theatre, August 8-10.  The show is directed by Bella Holland, music director Dauri Kennedy, band director Jay Real and choreographer Karyn Laver

In the Heights is a musical with concept, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes. The story is a romance as well as a celebration of community, culture, and aspirations. It is set over the course of three days, involving characters in the largely Dominican American neighborhood of Washington Heights in Upper Manhattan, New York City. The score blends hip-hop, salsa, merengue, and soul.

 Performances will be Friday evening, August 8, at 7:00 PM, Saturday matinee at 2:00 PM, Saturday evening at 7:00 PM and a Sunday matinee at 2:00 PM
