IN SOLIDARITY WITH #YOUTHCLIMATESTRIKE, SUNRISE MOVEMENT HOLDS DEMONSTRATION AT UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA CAMPUS

On Friday, March 15th, Sunrise Movement is hosting a demonstration to show solidarity with the #YouthClimateStrike happening at high schools all over the country. For 11 minutes, youth activists will demonstrate solidarity with the past, present, and future victims of the climate crisis. Afterwards, there will be a mobile rally and call to action.

Demand: The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors must pledge to stop any and all new fossil fuel infrastructure in the county, such as the Plains All-American Pipeline proposal and Cat Canyon oil wells.

WHAT: Youth-led demonstration and rally demanding a Green New Deal and moratorium on all new fossil fuel infrastructure in the county.

WHEN: Friday March 15 11:00 AM PST 

WHERE: In front of Davidson Library at the UCSB Arbor

WHO: Dozens of youth activists from Sunrise Movement and allied groups such as the Student Activist Network.

WHY: Climate change is real, it’s human-caused, and it’s happening now. We can’t sit by and allow new fossil fuel infrastructure to be built in our own backyard when, according to the IPCC and our OWN GOVERNMENT’S report, we only have 11 years left to prevent the most catastrophic effects of this global crisis.
