Harvest of Colors - A Members Showcase - Quilt Show
The 2018 “Harvest of Colors: A Members’ Showcase” Quilt Show, sponsored by the Coastal Quilters Guild of Santa Barbara and Goleta, California, will feature over 200 guild members’ quilted creations. The Show promises to be spectacular and will honor the 30th Anniversary of the Guild and 30 years of donating locally.
The biennial show will be held Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16 at the Earl Warren Showgrounds, Hwy101 and Las Positas, in Santa Barbara and will run from 10 AM to 5 PM both days. Weekend passes, good for both days, are $10 at the door and children under 12 are free. Parking is free and both the lot and the entrance are handicap accessible.
Traditional, modern and art quilts will be on display. Visitors to the show will be able to vote for their favorite quilt in the “Viewer’s Choice”. The Education Corner will have activities for both children and adults alike. Quilting demonstrations will also take place throughout the weekend, a gift boutique with items crafted by members will be for sale, plus over 20 vendors in the merchant mall to buy from. Raffle tickets for a Singer Featherweight and many baskets of goodies (quilt related and not) will be available for purchase with drawings both days. The winner need not be present to win. Proceeds from raffle ticket sales and the show will go to help fund many of the guild’s community projects. Over the last 30 years Guild members have made thousands of quilts and other hand-crafted items for more than 30 local non-profits. This year we will have a special Community Quilts display where we will highlight some of the organization that have received donations including Unity Shoppe, Hillside House, Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care, Serenity House, Meals on Wheels, and SB Shelter for Women to name a few.
This year’s special exhibit will be quilts from Freddy Moran featuring her Face the Year quilts. Ms. Moran is a popular teacher, lecturer, artist and award-winning quilt maker. She is known for her unbridled use of bold color and considers red a neutral. Her quilts will make you smile and you’ll want to buy fabric and make one.
