“Getting an Early Read on DLI”: Info Night at Carpinteria Children’s Project Preps Families for Preschool

May 3 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm PDT

May 3 Event Gives New Families a Chance to See Early Childhood Dual Language Program

For parents of young children, every small move and milestone is a big leap, especially the jump into preschool. The questions of where to go and why can weigh heavily. To facilitate answers to these important questions, Carpinteria Children’s Project will host an in-house information night at 5:30 p.m. on Friday May 3, providing information on its Dual Language Early Childhood Education programming for 2024-25.

“First and foremost, we emphasize creating a supportive and inclusive environment for Early Childhood Education that meets every child’s needs to grow and play,” said Teresa Alvarez, Executive Director of Carpinteria Children’s Project. “In their very first chances for socialization and first glimpses at academic instruction, our students are empowered by learning in both English and Spanish. It’s a baby step toward the big rewards of a multilingual future.”

Parents exploring preschool enrollment for the 2024-25 school year can meet the experienced staff and learn all about CCP’s emphasis on social-emotional development and age-appropriate Dual Language Immersion by attending the information night. At CCP, the emphasis on multilingual and multicultural classrooms is a building block toward the popular DLI program at Carpinteria public elementary schools.

“Those who are thinking ahead to kindergarten get an early read on DLI through a year or two at our preschool,” Alvarez said. “Entering a Spanish-speaking classroom at the kindergarten level can be a big adjustment. From the A, B, Cs to circle time on the rug, our students are hearing spoken Spanish and English and preparing for a smooth transition.”

All five Early Childhood Education classrooms at CCP have bilingual teachers in a 10-to-1 or lower student-to-teacher ratio. Children ages 18-months to pre-kindergarten may apply to attend, and scholarships are available based on income qualifications. Learn more by calling (805) 566-1600.
