Front Country Trails Update with Montecito Trails Foundation

Free Presentation
Thursday, December 20th, 6:30PM
Faulkner Gallery – Santa Barbara Public Library
40 East Anapamu St., Santa Barbara, CA

Between damage from the Thomas Fire and the subsequent devastation wrought by the debris flows, many of our front country trails are in serious need of repair. Since the reopening of access to most of these trails back in May, volunteers and community organizations, along with city and county agencies and Los Padres National Forest have been working together to help bring these trails back to life.

Join Montecito Trails Foundation Board Member Ashlee Mayfield as she provides an overview of the work that’s been done so far, as well as what still needs to be done and how people can help to restore our local front country trails. Learn which trails are open and which ones still need work.

An avid hiker, Ashlee joined the board in April to help support the recovery of our local trails. Established in 1964, Montecito Trails Foundation, helps maintain our local trails, and actively works with the county and other stakeholders to develop and protect local trail easements.

This presentation is part of the ongoing Wilderness Hiking Speaker Series hosted by the Santa Barbara Public Library. The talks are the third Thursday of the month and feature topics related to hiking, backpacking, and our local natural history.

The next talk in the series will be January 17, 2019, Backcountry Adventures: The Search For Rare Plants with the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden.
