“FAR FROM HOME” INVITES US TO SEE THE WORLD THROUGH AN ARTIST’S EYES

Watercolors by Martha Inman Lorch at Gallery Los Olivos Los Olivos, June 1, 2024: Gallery Los Olivos is proud to present, Far From Home, a solo exhibition of works by Santa Barbara watercolorist, Matha Inman Lorch. The show runs from June 1st through the 30th. The gallery is located at 2920 Grand Avenue, Los Olivos. Open daily 10 – 5 pm

A reception with the artist will be held on Saturday, June 8 from 2:00 to 4:00.

The subjects in this exhibition were inspired by Ms. Inman Lorch’s international travels on several

continents. Where most tourists point their cameras toward scenes that simply document their

adventures, Martha is on the lookout for shapes, colors, and particularly textures, that speak to her

artistically because they define the scene and her response to it. Her interpretation of “Villa La

Torricella, Capri” uses many layers of light-filled translucent pigment to imply the lively foliage

surrounding an iconic building spotlighted by the sun. Lovers of the recent Netflix series, “Ripley”, may

recognize the home as Dickie’s picturesque villa located on the coast of Italy.
