The Santa Barbara County Genealogical Society invites the community to celebrate the start of Family History Month and the 50th anniversary of the Society at a FREE Open House and exhibit on Sunday, October 2, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Sahyun Genealogical Library, 316 Castillo Street in Santa Barbara.
The Open House will include tours of the Sahyun Genealogical Library provided by Society volunteers, genealogical research help, family tree fan chart printouts from FamilySearch.org, special interest group discussions, and refreshments.
Visitors to the event can also enjoy self-guided garden tours and informational tables from the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation, Daughters of Union Veterans, and Sons of Union Veterans.
About the Santa Barbara County Genealogical Society
The Society is an all-volunteer organization with over 500 members, and boasts a 5,000 square foot genealogy research library with holdings of over 16,000 books and a computer lab with access to genealogy subscription websites.
Family History Month Continues through October
In addition to the Open House, Family History Month (October) is filled with a full schedule of classes and a special 50th Anniversary and Family History Month-themed display at the Goleta Library display case, on display October 1-28. A calendar of Family History Month events can be found on the Society’s website at SBGEN.org.
