Since 1980, the number of extreme weather catastrophes worldwide have increased dramatically, and our region is no exception to this trend. The extended drought in Santa Barbara County – recently punctuated by California’s largest wildfire and the tragic debris flow in Montecito – make it clear that the impacts of climate change have arrived in our region. And we are not prepared. How can we use the latest disasters in our region to better adapt and strengthen our communities to be climate resilient? How can innovative clean energy production and storage companies help make Santa Barbara more energy independent? How can impact investors put their money to work in a sustainable and profitable fashion?
