Deckers Brand Showcase to Benefit Magoo’s Shoes on Dec 22

On Saturday, December 22nd from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Deckers will donate 40% of every purchase at its Brand Showcase in Goleta and its Ugg popup store in Paseo Nuevo, to Magoo’s Shoes, a local nonprofit that buys new shoes for kids in our community who can’t afford them. 

The Magoo’s Shoes Experience

Earlier this year, Magoo’s Shoes delivered new shoes for 400 children from 10 local elementary schools in Santa Barbara and Goleta, plus all the kids at the Storyteller school, a pre-school for homeless children.

Starting early in the school day over several days in June, children boarded buses, kindly donated by Student Transportation Systems, and headed to the Deckers Brand Showcase store on the Deckers campus in Goleta.

“Deckers has been a game-changing partner of Magoo’s for the last three years,” said local businessman Simon Dixon, who runs Magoo’s Shoes. “As we planned for last year’s event, Deckers offered to further support us by donating a portion of their holiday sales. It was a tremendous boost! This is our second year and I’m encouraging everyone to put something from Deckers under the tree this Christmas and to buy it on December 22nd!”

In Deckers, Dixon found a willing partner. “Community outreach is one of our core values,” said Stephen Coyne, Store Director at Deckers. “We believe in being kind to people, being honest with people, being open and courageous. That’s part of our culture here and we like to share that with the greater community.”

Dixon, who has run Magoo’s Shoes for the last seven years, said, “They gave us a big thumbs-up. The support of Deckers has been instrumental to our expansion and putting shoes on the feet of more needy kids.”

“Part of the magic of Magoo’s Shoes is that the kids get to pick any pair of shoes in the store,” Dixon said. “These are kids that rarely if ever have that opportunity in any form. It’s not just about the shoes, it’s about love and support and hope.”

The kids who have received shoes as part of the program have expressed immense gratitude for the gifts. “Thank you, Magoo’s Shoes! Today’s footprint is tomorrow’s legacy,” reads a poster made for Magoo’s Shoes by the students at Ellwood School.

“Words can’t express the impact that the Magoo’s Shoes experience and the high-quality shoes had on our students. They were literally strutting on the last day of school,” said Veronica Blinkley, Principal of Harding School, one of the ten local schools who benefited from the program.
