Compost and Recycling Program

March 7, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am PST

About The Program:
Foodscraps are food and soiled paper sorted from your trash. These materials can be diverted from the landfill and turned into compost.

Join us for our monthly, community-wide Compost and Recycling Program! Santa Barbara City Trash & Recycling Specialist, Hillary Allen, will tell you everything you need to know about the City’s Foodscraps Program, recycling, and waste diversion efforts.
Sorting out your foodscraps helps the environment in two ways:
1. Diverts material from the landfill. When foodscraps are buried they do not only take up a lot of space, but also produce greenhouse gases as they break down.
2. Foodscraps are turned into compost. Compost is a soil amendment used by local farmers and on public parks and school grounds.

All recycling and compost services are half as expensive as trash service. Replace trash bins with blue, green, or yellow bins to save money on your monthly bill.

Is your business interested in joining the program? Schedule a meeting with a Recycling Specialist today! Call (805) 564-5631 or go to www.santabarbaraca.gov/services/recycling/business/foodscrap.asp
