Civil Rights Journey

Join the Jewish Federation of Greater Santa Barbara’s Women’s Division in a Civil Rights journey to Atlanta, Montgomery, Selma, Birmingham and Memphis.

In October, see where hard-fought struggles propelled the country forward one step at a time.

The birth of southern Jewish Identity. Visit the Leo Frank Site in Atlanta and learn how his death spurred the creation of the Anti-Defamation League.
The hometown of Dr. Martin Luther King. See the center that bears his name and meet people who worked with him to champion integration.
How the back of the bus moved to the forefront. Experience the Rosa Parks Museum and learn about the action that launched the Civil Rights Movement.
Where they marched. Tour Selma and the Edmund Pettus Bridge, hear from someone who marched, and discover one rabbi’s role.
The fight continues. See the Names Project’s AIDS Memorial Quilt and explore how the gay community fought for its right in the shadow of the disease.
Rock on. Discuss the impact Rock and Roll had on the Civil Rights Movement at the Smithsonian Museum of Rock and soul. Learn about Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel’s friendship with Dr. King at the National Civil Rights Museum. AND MORE!

Price: $2100 a person double occupancy. $500 single supplement. Price includes all ground transportation in a deluxe coach bus, hotel rooms, all meals (except Mon. & Wed. dinners) and all programming fees.
