Casa del Herrero Launches Online Holiday Boutique Silent Auction

November 1, 2020 @ 8:00 am - November 30, 2020 @ 8:00 am PST

Casa del Herrero’s year-end fundraiser, Christmas at the Casa, is a beloved annual tradition. With delicious bites, twinkling Christmas trees, and merriment in the air, the event is the highlight of the holiday season. While the Casa remains closed to events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Christmas at the Casa: From Our Casa to Yours will be an online Christmas boutique silent auction that will open November 1 and end on November 30, 2020. The auction is a curated collection of treasures guaranteed to add a little magic and sparkle this holiday season.

“David and I are going to pour ourselves a glass of wine; light the fire and pretend we’re together at the Casa as we go online to the auction,” said Honorary Committee Co-Chair Sharon Bradford. “We’ll be toasting you all and looking forward to getting together at our favorite event next year.”

Viewing the auction is easy! Just go to casachristmas.com (https://casachristmas.com/), and click on the “AUCTION” tab in the upper right corner to see the items in the boutique. Silent auction items include beautifully decorated Christmas trees by some of southern California’s top interior designers; a curated selection of vintage jewelry and elegant antiques; elves to handle all of your gift and stocking stuffer wrapping; and one-of-a-kind experiences such as a BBQ dinner for 20 prepared at the Casa on George Fox Steedman’s grill, a day at The Rosewood Miramar’s private club with lunch, and an opportunity to cruise the Channel Islands National Park, and so much more!

“I have so many terrific memories from our Christmas at the Casa event,” said Casa Executive Director Jessica Tade. “While we cannot gather in person this year, I am excited that this wonderful tradition will continue online.”

Funds raised support Casa del Herrero’s mission and ability to complete important conservation projects, maintain the home’s beautiful garden spaces, and engage in collaborations that provide educational and creative opportunities for the community. Community support keeps the door of access open to all those wishing to engage with the Casa – to share local history and to keep architect George Washington Smith’s architecture a vital, living presence in our community.

“This year was filled with so much uncertainty – it truly was the most unprecedented year in the Casa’s nearly 100-year history,” said Jessica Tade. “We are fortunate to have the support of this amazing community, whose passion and enthusiasm for our work keeps our organization going strong.”
