Carillon Recital: Wesley Arai and Emily O’Mahony

May 15, 2022 @ 2:00 am PDT

Sunday, May 15 at 2:00pm

Storke Tower | Free and open to the public

UC Santa Barbara University Carillonist Wesley Arai and Student Carillonist Emily O’Mahony will present a recital of solo and duet works covering a wide range of styles. The recital will feature the world premiere of a piece by UCSB undergraduate student Ethan Sifferman, performed by Emily O’Mahony. This new composition, Wonder Onward, is the product of the Student Composer/Performer Pair Grant offered by the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America. Sifferman and O’Mahony were one of two composer/performer pairs selected to receive a grant to collaborate on the composition and performance of a new work for carillon.

This is a live, in-person event.

Bring a blanket or lawn chair, grab some snacks, and enjoy the recital from the lawn outside the tower! This event will also be livestreamed on the UC Santa Barbara Department of Music’s YouTube channel (a link will be added to this page closer to the event).
