SANTA BARBARA CANCER PATIENT USES BIRTHDAY TO SUPPORT HOLIDAY WISHES OF CHILDREN WITH CANCER AND TREATMENTS FOR METASTATIC CANCERS

Tia Walker is taking the 3 words most people dread receiving, “You have cancer” and making them life saving for others through awareness and raising funds for those with metastatic cancers.

According to the American Cancer Society, 87% of all cancers in the US are diagnosis in people 50 years or older.

Just when thoughts of retirement are on the horizon, a cancer diagnosis often goes hand in hand with potentially devastating financial burdens with an added diagnosis or metastatic cancers. Many advanced treatment options and immunotherapy protocols are not covered by insurance.

Tia has shared:

“Being a local business consultant and fundraising professional, I never imagined that some of the very organizations I helped support like Breast Cancer Resource Center, would be a resource for me years later. The Cancer Research & Life Foundation is doing research and provides next level (MTET) multi molecular targeted epigenetic therapy that is advancing the reality of a cure. I’ve chosen this nonprofit because I have seen firsthand the impact, they have on the lives of many people who were written off as terminal and this treatment continues to be a lifeline for me.

“Donations for stage 4 metastatic breast cancer treatments can determine whether someone is given the opportunity to beat the disease or not.”

On Thursday, December 12th at Embermill Restaurant 1031 State Street, from 6:30-8:30, Tia is celebrating her birthday with a Caribbean Holiday Fundraiser complete with live music and Santa’s workshop with gifts to be donated to families with children who are diagnosed with cancer. Tickets are $20 Donation.

This fundraiser is a hope to lighten the load of those dealing with a chronic disease during the holidays.
