“Welcome Back!” OPEN HOUSE Wed. Sept. 27th 6-8pm
Free Admission!
On Wednesday, September 27th, the Cabrillo High School Aquarium will open its doors to the public for the first time this school year! This free event will highlight everything that Aquarium students have accomplished over the summer. In the lab room, visitors can view multiple species of octopuses along with tiny moon jelly polyps alongside the very first adult jellies to ever be grown in our facility!
Aquarium students will also be giving a sneak-peek at some of the hands-on, Next Generation Science activities being developed for our visiting school groups. Since 2002, the Lompoc Unified School District has generously paid for every 5th grader in the district to visit the Aquarium. Come see what we’ve been up to and what we have planned this year!
Located in the front of the Cabrillo High School campus, the Cabrillo High School Aquarium has worked since 1986 to promote stewardship of our oceans through a student-run, cross-curricular, project-based learning environment. The program welcomes over 7,000 visitors annually. The Aquarium’s current 6,000 square foot facility features over 20 live and static displays, maintained and hosted by Cabrillo High School students. For more information, contact Aquarium Director Greg Eisen at eisen.greg@lusd.org or (805) 742-2888. Regular Aquarium updates can also be found on the Aquarium’s Facebook page.
