Santa Barbara’s own Brasscals! joins New Orleans powerhouse SOUL Brass Band for an all-ages night of high-energy brass, funk, and second line rhythms at SOhO Restaurant & Music Club on Monday, June 8. 

Known as Santa Barbara’s only street brass band, Brasscals! kicks off the evening with an infectious mix of funk, jazz, pop, Latin grooves, and New Orleans-inspired brass arrangements. Headliner SOUL Brass Band brings the spirit of New Orleans second line culture to the SOhO stage with a dynamic sound blending brass, soul, jazz, funk, and hip-hop into a nonstop dance party atmosphere. 

Led by drummer Derrick “Smoker” Freeman, SOUL Brass Band has earned a reputation for electrifying live performances rooted in authentic New Orleans tradition. The band features acclaimed players including Billboard-charting saxophonist James Martin and Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Miles Lyons, delivering a powerful live experience that has energized festival crowds, dance floors, and second line celebrations across the country. 

Founded in 2022, Brasscals! is a multigenerational Santa Barbara community brass band that has performed internationally and appeared at HONK! festivals in Seattle, Boston, and Austin, building a reputation for joyful, community-driven performances and bold brass arrangements.
