AWCSB June Zoom: Managing Change

Presenters include:
Judith Smith Meyer FoodbankSBC, will talk about how FoodbankSBC has shifted to respond swiftly to urgent needs in the community
Antoinette Chartier SES Conference Director, will offer insights on planning and booking events, meetings and conferences in a COVID-19 world to mitigate liability.
Lysa Urban Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV), will share information about how small business owners are being impacted by the pandemic, as well as ways in which WEV is pivoting to serve its clients.

Presenter Bios:
Antionette Chartier is the Executive Director of Hospitality Management Systems, a meeting planning firm. HMS has managed over 275 Interdisciplinary Academic Conferences globally since 1993. Her firm specializes in Biotech Conferences and Associations. Prior to establishing her meeting planning firm, she had a 13 year career in the hotel industry with ITT Sheraton and Belz Hotels. Having managed hundreds of hotel contracts as a meeting planner, and an immeasurable amount of contracts from the hotel side as well, her contracting exposure has led her to add a site selection service to her company as a new focus since 2012. Antoinette is a University of San Diego graduate, and also a proud Westmont College Leadership Woman.
Judith Smith-Meyer has served in the role of communications manager for the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County for three years. Prior to that, she worked in educational website marketing and curriculum review, taught high school and junior high English, ELD and social studies in Santa Barbara public schools, launched and operated an event photographer business, and served as the writer and publicist for UCSB Arts & Lectures for 10 years. Her two sons are young adults. She earned her B.A. in linguistics from UCSB and her professional clear teaching credential from UCSB’s Gevirtz Graduate School of Education. She enjoys yoga, hiking, dancing with La Boheme Professional Dance Group, writing performance reviews for Noozhawk, gardening, and eating, especially radicchio and avocados from local farmers markets..
Lysa Urban, Women’s Economic Ventures, has been a WEV volunteer and supporter for several years and is excited to be WEV’s Marketing Manager. She brings extensive experience developing successful communication strategies for the private, public and non-profit sectors including community engagement, public relations, media and marketing campaigns. A graduate of UCSB with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science / International Relations, Lysa has been actively involved with non-profit groups in both Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. She enjoys supporting community organizations and currently serves on the FOOD Share Board of Directors. Outside of work, Lysa can be found at one of her many favorite WEV client businesses in Ventura or Santa Barbara.
