(Santa Barbara, Calif.,) —Art and history really are a natural pairing. Returning for its 30th year, the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History’s popular Artwalk is taking place at the Mission Creek campus on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24, and will showcase the works of award-winning local artists, as well as some younger, up-and-coming artists. The 2017 edition of this annual Museum tradition will include a beautiful indoor show and a limited number of exhibitors outdoors, as well as a special Children’s Artwalk.
The Indoor Show features artwork from The Oak Group, respected as one of the country’s first groups of painters for preservation of endangered landscapes, as well as other artists of note. There will be a limited Outdoor Show of invited and award-winning artists. A no-host wine bar will be available.
All works displayed at the show, with the exception of art from the Children’s Artwalk, are for sale and proceeds help support Museum programs.
Artwalk guests will want to be sure to stop by the Children’s Artwalk for an up-close look at what our future artists have been working on. The works displayed, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, weavings, and more, were created by more than 200 children from local elementary schools.
While the Children’s Artwalk work is not for sale, there are photo notecard sets of select pieces that are available for purchase. Proceeds from the sale of the notecards support the Children’s Artwalk each year.
