Animal Tracking Secrets with Jim Lowery

Thursday, September 20th, 6:30PM
Faulkner Gallery – Santa Barbara Public Library
40 East Anapamu St., Santa Barbara, CA

Tracking opens a rich dimension into the lives of the animals around us. The tracks we find on the trails and in the wilderness can reveal what the animal is, its gender and size, where it’s going and what it’s doing, and even its mood.

Join local tracker Jim Lowery, as he shares some of the skills and insights he’s developed from over 30 years of teaching people how to track. Jim is the author of The Tracker’s Field Guide, and the founder of Earth Skills, www.EarthSkills.com, which offers classes in tracking, wilderness survival skills, native plant uses and traditional skills.

The talk is FREE and part of the ongoing Wilderness Hiking Speaker Series hosted by the Santa Barbara Public Library. The talks are the third Thursday of the month and feature topics related to hiking, backpacking, and our local natural history.

The next talk in the series is Thursday, October 18th, Historic Mines & Trails of the Santa Barbara Backcountry with James Wapotich.
