6th Annual Lompoc Chalks Returns October 17-19

This year Lompoc Chalks will be bringing an exciting weekend of arts and entertainment to the Lompoc Veterans Memorial Building! The schedule for this free community event, taking place October 17-19, includes three fun-filled days devoted to colorful chalk art, live entertainment, youth activities, food trucks and local vendors!

Organizers are actively looking for sponsors for this free community event, as well as artists interested in volunteering to bring colorful chalk creations to life, and local vendors to sell their wares in the Lompoc Chalks Marketplace. Weekend festivities begin on Friday, October 17, at the “Meet the Artists” Kick-Off from 5:00pm-8:00pm featuring live music, wine tasting, and a Children’s Chalking Class. While admission is free, food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The chalk festival itself takes place on Saturday and Sunday, October 18 and 19, from 10:00am-5:00pm. Live entertainment is planned throughout the event with many local musicians, dance groups and performers taking the stage. Families will love the Kid’s Corner, which features fun activities including complimentary kids squares to decorate, face painting, and crafts. Plus, there will be food trucks and vendors on site to enjoy, as well as a beer, wine and beverage bar for adults.

The main attraction of the event is the sidewalk/street chalk art that will be created over the course of the weekend. Artists begin these chalk masterpieces early in the morning on Saturday, and the public is encouraged to watch their progress throughout the weekend.

This free community event is made possible thanks to our sponsors including Explore Lompoc, the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation, and KTKB Enterprises, and through direct donations from the community. All proceeds raised from this popular annual event go directly to the restoration of the historic Lompoc Theatre, which is currently undergoing Phase II renovations with plans to open in a limited capacity next year.

The Lompoc Theatre Project is a community effort to restore the historic landmark of Lompoc Theatre to re-open as a performing arts and film center, educational and community hub; and focal point of a revitalized Old Town Lompoc.
