30th Anniversary Tribute to Alanis Morissette’s “Jagged Little Pill”

The Month of June marks the Queen of Alternative Rock’s 51st birthday and the 30th Anniversary of the release of her legendary debut, “Jagged Little Pill.” In celebration, on June 6, Soho will host a live tribute to “Jagged Little Pill” featuring top local talent. Backed by a rocking five-piece band, Jamie Green, Miriam Dance and Jenna Tico– avowed Alanis fans themselves– will bring you the raw emotion, fiery passion, and unforgettable sound that only true fans can convey. The Jagged Little Pill Tribute will be followed by a dance party with Smelly Cat, playing all your favorite 90’s alt-rock artists, including Pearl Jam, Green Day, Stone Temple Pilots, No Doubt, Blink 182 and more.
“I remember exactly where I was when ‘You Oughtta Know’ debuted on Los Angeles modern rock radio station KROQ-FM – driving north on Ventura Boulevard in my home town of Studio City,” muses Green. “Like so many of us, I fell in love with the album, and have bought every album since. I am thrilled to be paying her tribute and can only hope I will do her justice.” Green fronts local 90’s tribute bands, “Flannel 101” and “Smelly Cat.”
“My love for Alanis began in my teenage years when I thought she was a quintuplet after seeing ‘Ironic’ on MTV,” says Dance. I fell in love with her. She was raw and honest and really spoke to me. I’m excited to collaborate with other Alanis fans to celebrate an album that still rocks and is relevant three decades later.” Dance is well known in the community for her Soho Gospel Brunch, rock band, “Something This Way Magic” and stunning performances at the Granada.
“From the first listen, ‘Jagged Little Pill’ gave me access to rage, reverence and everything in between,” reflects Tico. “Alanis gave me hair envy, taught me about duality, inspired me to tell it like it is, and still convinces me that– somehow – everything’s gonna be fine, fine fine.” Tico is the mastermind behind “Whatever Forever,” a cabaret style tribute to the music of the early 2000s.
Can’t make it to Alanis’ Vegas Residency in the fall? This will be a worthy consolation, for a fraction of the price. Come clad in your Adidas or Doc Martins, your black leather pants and oversized t-shirts. (And don’t forget your angst).
