Nothing to see here. You are just a racist if you think there is an ever growing gang problem in our community.

LCP- again I encourage all to read up on the history of SB gangs. It has actually been much worse in the past. Likely an ebb and flow for reasons we cannot comprehend but it’s not all about non-enforcement of the laws. The SB gangs are going to do what they do unless they bring back the unpopular gang injunctions. Then more young gang members will just end up in jail for being in a car with the wrong people and the cycle continues.

Someone who knows the victims family said he was 24. He had supposedly been out the gang life for a 5 years and was working a normal job. So he was either still involved or he had some unsettled beef from back in the day. Maybe he snitched or it could possible be the other members believe the only way out of the gang is death. Sad circumstances either way. A lot of immigrants come here to make lives better for their kids and those kids disrespect their parents by joining gangs.

The tragedy these boys bring on their families and anyone who loves them--and themselves--before they have any clue about how precious their lives are and how unimportant which corner belongs to whom. Fights to the death over bird droppings.

LUVADUCK- I think it would behoove all of us to educate ourselves on gang culture. The “families” of these kids are typically part of the culture. Initiation starts as young as 16. The kids grow up being completely normalized by this activity. It’s way deeper than whose corner belongs to who. It’s about past injustices by the other. The history runs deep! It’s very complicated. No simple solution.

No gang problems here, nope none at all. Let's all give thanks to those fine liberal Superior Court judges that have been appointed by our very concerned governor(s) for doing everything in their power to keep gang members behind bars.

My Grandfather lived right there in the 70's. Sure has changed.

Chico, the whole state has since the '70s, and obviously not for the better.

Just a few years ago (2013) Kelly Mitchell Hunt was murdered by two gang members (Isaac Jimenez, Joseph Castro) on the same block of Olive Street. That part of the street is very dark at night. Perhaps more street lighting would help? Or enforcing laws to keep criminals off the streets.

More street lights won’t help stem gang related killings. Just move them to another block.

Kelly Hunt was a rival gang member from Ventura not sure if you left that part out on purpose. So another gang related killing.

I understand from another man in his 20s that the deceased belonged to an SB gang. Not sure if that’s true.
