Does anyone recognize these two people who tried to break into my home this afternoon and oddly stole a dog brush from my front porch? We live a block from west beach near Bath & Mason (behind Hotel Milo / Sambos). The man’s first name is apparently Charlie or Charles. The police have been notified but wanted others in the neighborhood to keep an eye out so they don’t try to get into your home as well. After leaving my porch they proceeded to open our gate and walked in the backyard to see if they could get into the house from the rear. They apparently didn’t notice that we have several cameras all over the house inside and out. For a better look at the individuals, you can view one of the security video clips at https://video.nest.com/clip/84b9cc8a729e48f684ceb0df5b0802b1.mp4.

Can’t give you a name but I served this couple food where I work on Monday 10/14 around 7pm near State street and Figueroa.
I did get the impression they were sketchy but they were ok to me.

What about finger prints. I think there's a mental health issue going on. I mean seriously. Watering your plants.
They shouldn't be hard to identify

Well you can clearly see where and what they touched on the porch.. If need be they can easily lift some prints and run for ID.

@10:49-Probably watered the plants, sat down etc in order to appear as though she lives there. All the while looking for a key while the guy kept a look out.

Two people DID NOT try to "break" into this home. These are the homeless of your neighborhood. This is what liberals choose not to address. This is only the beginning of an epidemic. The woman is clearly expressing lack of mental awareness. The guy associates with her on that level. He walks up and leaves with no interest. She is actually watering the plants. She only notices the camera at the end and in clear defiance, takes a brush. Your neighborhood is flowing with these people. Cameras don't change the facts, they only capture them.

Wtf? The very first thing the woman did was try the door handle. What about that is NOT trying to break in?

They are probably drug addicts and criminals that also happen to be homeless. A friend of mine just had his laundry stolen from the line in back of his cottage one week ago, one block from this house, and had two chairs taken a month ago. We used to have bums here that largely kept to themselves and now we have criminal drug addicts in their place that steal constantly to feed their drug addiction. Let's hope we do not end up like LA and SF...

We are definitely like LA and SF already. Just on a smaller scale. I was driving by ACE hardware on Guttierez the other day and notice full on sidewalk encampments skid row style on one of the side streets. As well as along the Garden street and 101 underpass. Camps right next to entrances. Can't forget good old Alameda park, plaza Veracruz, the county administration building, the courthouse and good old state Street at night.

1150, your statement is ridiculous and please keep politics out...this isn't political.

I live in the neighborhood. About 2 blocks away. Sorry, the nuts are at 7-11, they don't wander around there. They go between the Fig tree and 7-11. I walk right by this ladies house every night on a walk with my kids. There are no liberal conspiracies happening...

1252, those have been there for decades....
we are nothing like LA and SF. In fact I urge you to go spend a week in each of those cities and come back and tell us that we are the same...

because she used the door handle. that's not breaking in. how do you know these two aren't Euro tourists looking for their Air BNB and got the wrong location? A LOT of clueless tourists down here....a lot.
if these two actually wanted to break in, they would have succeeded. Glass is breakable....

That nothing was broken. It's not against the law to turn a door nob. It would be called trespassing. As for the cops? You and your bros voted in the new laws that disallow arrests for small time thefts. Of course, unless, you want to send drug addicts to jail for rehab.

Jail for rehab? Not in this County. Didn't you read the story of a dozen, give or take, overdoses in a single day at SB County jail a few weeks ago?

Zerohawk - Uninvited guests trying to open a doors on someone else’s property is an attempted break in. Broken glass is noticeable and loud. But quietly walking into a house and stealing a few items or medications may not be noticed until days later. She was looking for a key and he was keeping watch. Good thing this homeowner locks all their doors.

OCT 17, 2019 02:39 PM------"As nouns the difference between knob and nob
is that knob is a rounded protuberance, handle, or control switch while nob is (slang|chiefly|british) a wealthy or influential person; a toff or nob can be the head."

@ 12:52 p.m. Today I drove past that same, giant strung-out pile of bikes and camping gear and what a mess. What the HELL is going on with all that junk piled up there?

I believe I recognize these folks, homeless couple that used to be seen around Santa Barbara on a daily basis. John and Beth last name Foraker. They were registered as temps with Select Staffing, I used to work there and they would come in regularly.

Sharing the story with the public and asking for help is one thing. Naming names and workplace without a positive ID is another. KYKY0902 says the guys name is John, the victim said, "... The man’s first name is apparently Charlie or Charles."

Did you see the part where I said “were” registered? They were fired. And last time I checked, this post asked for the public’s help in recognizing who these people are. And I recognize them clear as day. If you’re offended by identifying perpetrators, you should go somewhere else. This is a post trying to help someone in our community who was targeted.

You actually believe his name is Charles because she called him that? Boy there are easy pickins in Santa Barbara and that is why they are all here

Homeless people have been running amok in this neighborhood for decades. Arrest them they stole a dog brush and watered my plants! Where's the compassion. What's more fun, since you've voted in soft arrest laws that do nothing for alcoholism, mental illness and petty theft, there's literally nothing the police or jails can do even if they could do something. Why don't you bring these two a care package next time you see them floating about. They'll become your gargoyles if you do.

This is trespassing and attempt burglary, and theft it has nothing to do with the ACLU...If they are going to advocate that people break the laws the ACLU is nothing but a group of criminals themselves.

Their intentions were to break into the house..... ...... yes, she watered a plant and stole a dog brush...... but her next victim won't be so lucky...... they are common-low-life-thieves, and should be caught and charged. They probably have a bunch of stolen stuff in their car ....

Great Nest camera publicity. We have a Nest doorbell - fun to see the neighbors putting an extra bag in our trash on pickup day. :) Hope these two methies get a talkin' to.

Wow. I hope these two are caught. I love the story about the one commenter's pal having laundry stolen. Ever notice how, in movies, when people who are on the run steal clothes from laundry lines the clothes are always dry?
