A rollover car crash last night about 11 p.m. brought down a large power pole on Highway 192 (Foothill Rd.) by Willowglen.  The driver was not seriously injured but taken to Cottage Hospital for further evaluation according to Santa Barbara City Fire officials on the scene.

A Honda Civic with a smashed front end and broken windows was at the scene. The roadway was closed for hours.  Telecommunications and Edison lines were across all lanes and the hillside. At one point 2400 customers were in the dark in San Roque, parts of State St. and De la Vina down to Oak Park.  The cause of the accident is not known.

23 hours and 18 minutes since I reported the outage to Southern California Edison. Still sitting in the dark despite being told they would have power restored by 2am,... then 4am,... then 9am, 11am, 4pm, 7pm, 9pm, and now 11pm. Really SCE? Do you have to wait until a few minutes before the estimated completion time to know it's gonna take five more hours? If I had known it would take so long, I could have saved a refrigerator full of food.

SCE needs to take some responsibility, but they wont. You are absolutely correct----we could have saved $300-400 worth of refrig and frozen food simply by hauling it over to a neighbor's house. IF only SCE had told the truth. Instead, it all goes in the trash in the morning. What gets me angry is that this is the third time in less than a year. When a "4 hour planned outage" lasts a day, someone needs to loose their job. What is this, a third world country?

SCE's latest guess is power back at 11pm. That will be a 24hr outage to fix a single power pole. What--did they have get a crew from San Diego and a pole from Montana to make the fix? Not to mention those of us who received "updates" via text were told that power would be restored by 2am, then 4am, then 7am (at which time there no repair crews present) then 4pm, And now, 11pm. Oh----all that spoiled food in your fridge and freezer----forget about getting SCE to pay for it.

Power still out in parts of San Roque until around 4 today they are predicting. Most importantly, I hope the driver is ok. Parents who have kids who ride bikes home from Monte Vista along Grove Ln, it is VERY DANGEROUS today because cars from Foothill are re-routed and driving fast!
