There's a tree down at Loon Point which means half of the Padaro Lane residents are stuck at home, or unable to get home, because the bridge is still closed.

Update: Crews have already cleared half of the tree from the roadway.

I'm not going to weigh in on if Eucalyptus fall more often than Monterey Cypress and Coastal live but they certainly can cause a lot of trouble the corresponds with how tall and wide they are. Very heavy trees with lots of energy at the tall end of the 100 foot whip. There are reasons why Australians didn't live in Eucalyptus groves

Yes, TRAPPED! Where most happenings are blown way out of proportion. These folks are having to drive 1 mile in the other direction to get out. Somebody get the national guard in there to help them.

Ahem. Matt: "There's a tree down at Loon Point which means half of the Padaro Lane residents are stuck at home, or unable to get home, because the bridge is still closed."

Do you think that can drive across a bridge that is closed, Matt? (And some silly nonsense like "not truly trapped--they can swim!" won't help you here.)

Reading is essential.

"There's a tree down at Loon Point which means half of the Padaro Lane residents are stuck at home, or unable to get home, because the bridge is still closed."

"Hmm you make it sound as if there's not multiple places along Padaro lane that, in a true emergency, couldn't be used to cross the RR tracks to access the 101. "

No, no one made anything sound that way.

"They're not trapped, helicopters could drop them a skyhook!"

Hmm you make it sound as if there's not multiple places along Padaro lane that, in a true emergency, couldn't be used to cross the RR tracks to access the 101. Again, in a true emergency - fire, medical, etc.

You want to see where you are REALLY trapped in an emergency? Take a look at Winchester Canyon Road west of Cathedral Oaks. The San Miguel neighborhood has ONE exit. A buddy of mine lives down there and couldn't get his daughter to piano lessons years ago because a large oak came down across WCR. It something blocks the exit from that neighborhood at Winchester Dr, NOTHING can get in or out via the road.

Nico, yes, read the post. Tree down on road at Loon Point and bridge out 3/4s of mile east. In other words multiple homes trapped in the event of a fire or medical emergency.

They down the one next to this back when we did the parking lot project back in the mid 90's. Several were diseased and removed back then.
