Sounds like a great idea HUNKYMON! We have a similar sized roundabout at Milpas, with half the entries being off 2-lane streets, so this should be easily doable for most drivers. Not all are are unable to handle it, some might have trouble, some won't, but eventually, they'll be used to it and the vast majority will handle it well.

I think it’s just a busy area and with so many people driving around it’s always going to be slow. Don’t expect anything to change. So long as we keep promoting development in SB and Goleta, we’ll be seeing more and more traffic jams, roadwork, and gridlock. You reap what you sow.

The best solution for this intersection would be closing it permanently and turning the space into a pedestrian only area! This intersection should be adorned with some kind of a medal recognizing it as the worst and most inconvenient intersection in the whole county. I generally pretend that it does not exist and drive miles out of my way to go around it. If there is any significant amount of traffic, it’s actually faster to go through los carneros or Patterson than it is to attempt driving through this confounding intersection.
