Jul 07, 2022 06:01 PMRoundabouts. would solve the problem. There appears to be enough space from the photo.

Jul 07, 2022 07:34 PMSounds like a great idea HUNKYMON! We have a similar sized roundabout at Milpas, with half the entries being off 2-lane streets, so this should be easily doable for most drivers. Not all are are unable to handle it, some might have trouble, some won't, but eventually, they'll be used to it and the vast majority will handle it well.

Jul 07, 2022 06:15 PMIn theory yes, but we don’t have good enough (and aware) drivers to handle a roundabout of that magnitude.

Jul 07, 2022 03:58 PMThe last time they "improved" this intersection, they installed a permanent right turn lane that is empty most of the day. Not hoping for much here.

Jul 06, 2022 08:43 PMI think it’s just a busy area and with so many people driving around it’s always going to be slow. Don’t expect anything to change. So long as we keep promoting development in SB and Goleta, we’ll be seeing more and more traffic jams, roadwork, and gridlock. You reap what you sow.

Jul 06, 2022 03:51 PMThe best solution for this intersection would be closing it permanently and turning the space into a pedestrian only area! This intersection should be adorned with some kind of a medal recognizing it as the worst and most inconvenient intersection in the whole county. I generally pretend that it does not exist and drive miles out of my way to go around it. If there is any significant amount of traffic, it’s actually faster to go through los carneros or Patterson than it is to attempt driving through this confounding intersection.

Jul 06, 2022 08:06 PMExactly 9998! It's not confusing so much as it is one of the longest lights in town. Hopefully this survey helps with that.

Jul 06, 2022 07:28 PMI guess you don't live there or haven't been here long..
Chip ,if he is who I think he is, knows the real SB.
Remember "The frosting is nice but, the cake is moldy"?
That's SB in a nut shell.
