A couple weeks ago, someone posted here that they were not receiving their SCE bills.  Have you since received a bill?  If so, what did you do to get this result?   We haven’t received a bill since September.  We have called SCE countless times, and have three different open case numbers, with no results.  They also closed one case number….how?  By sending it to another department…..LOL.  We’ve canceled our “Auto Pay”, in preparation for a bill of $Hundreds.  We plan on contacting Senator Monique Limon with our complaint. Anyone have any other suggestions on how to resolve this?

I haven’t gotten a bill from Southern California Edison since September 2021.  This is what I found online.  Could not get through on the phone.

We experienced a technical issue, and this has resulted in some customers not receiving their bills on time. We are now diligently working to clear the backlog of delayed bills.

We encourage you to wait until you receive your bill before contacting us, as our Energy Advisors will not be able to provide an estimated date for your bill. You can call us to set-up a payment arrangement once you have received your bill.

Anyone else experience this?

Yes, me too! I hadn’t received a bill since last September and figured they were just trying to catch up with the new “green” energy supplier billing. I finally got my bill last week for 3 months ($200), which seems about right. We had never allowed them to put one of those transmitting meters on (someone had to come out and read our meter, which they did every other month) - wonder if that had anything to do with the delay?

Go online and make sure your account didn't get CLOSED for no reason, that's what happened to me and every customer service person I talked to was totally baffled as to why. The only way I've found to do this is to see if either autopay is enabled, or it offers the option to sign up for autopay - both of these indicate the account is open. If it says autopay is not available, click the little info symbol next to it, and it will tell you your account is closed.

And no, I have not received a bill since September either, even after supposedly remedying the closed account issue.

Yes, it happened to us (3) month bill came as quite a surprise; seeing as we opted out and kept our regular meter. As it was, we were only getting read every 2 months. We also got a surprise (2) month gas bill and a whopper; haven't investigated that yet.

Hmmm….we also got the huge gas bill and no electric bill since September (see my comment above on that). And we also opted out on “smart meters”. Payback….?

Hmmm….we also haven’t gotten a bill since September. And we also opted out of “smart meters”. Is there a correlation? And BTW, I have gotten through several times to talk to humans. I used the number on the back of our statement for “billing” and kept hitting “0” until I got a person (now about five people). The last of the five (supposedly) set up an appointment for a human to come to the house and check the meter. Weird that they all acted like we were the only ones with this billing problem…

SCE serves 5 million customers and this is more than likely related to the regional shift to SB clean energy. It is not strange at all that customer service hasn't heard the woes of our regional issues.

People who fear smart meters tend to have a conspirational view of the world.

I haven't got one either (still), and every time I call I get bounced around to different departments with at least one rep saying "I don't know why they would have transferred you to THIS department..." lol. I just laugh at it now, and keep an estimate of what I may owe so I am ready when the time comes. SCE customer service is a mess. They still are not turning off any service for non-payment (one of their responses to COVID), so I don't worry too much about it.

Do you know how to log into your online SCE account? They forced me into paperless billing several years ago. I never get a paper bill, have to log in to get it. Actually, they do send an email telling me the bill is ready. So, I’m wondering, if you log in to your account, are the bills available in there, as PDFs?

We don’t do accounting online. Each time we call the automated system says, “you last paid a bill of $xxx in September. There is no amount due at this time. Your next bill will be sent on January Y…” (then, February Y, March Y….). Then, a human being comes on and repeats the above. What a mess.

Yes, if you log into your SCE account you can see and/or download your bills as PDFs. You can also view your electricity usage by month, day, or hour. You should be able to see your billing status also.

Why disturbing? I find it very interesting to know exactly how much it costs me to, for example, run a load of laundry. For socalgas, they also have this feature, it's neat! Now I know exactly how much it costs me to run the furnace, etc.

Ahchooo, how were you forced into online or auto billing? You have to set up an account, chose a password, etc. Did SCE or can they actually stop mailing bills to customers?

I'm on autopay because I have PPA (power purchase agreement -- no cost to me) solar through Vivint now Sunrun, so I gave up all control, knowingly and willingly. This also decreased my bill. I've been getting monthly notices of my SCE payments - or credits.

It’s been several years, so my memory is vague, but I got a letter from SCE saying they were switching me to paperless billing. I called, waited a long time to speak with someone, who said they were doing it and if it didn’t work out I could call and change back but not right then. I gave in.
What I said was “disturbing” was the comment from 4:02 PM who hasn’t gotten a bill since September and can’t seem to get any legitimate updates or answers.

I should add, I probably already had an online account, but at the time still wanted a paper bill. I’m okay with the paperless now.

I get paperless billing and last month, paid my bill via an electronic check sent by my bank. SCE later sent me a delinquent notice, even though the bank had sent the check. To avoid problems, I paid again online at SCE’s web site. Fortunately, in this month’s bill, the overpayment was acknowledged and accounted for. Nevertheless, the experience didn’t instill confidence in SCE’s system.

I too am an opt out customer and receive paper bills. I don't track Edison bills. I just file them. The last bill I received is dated 12 October 2021. Hmmm.

As shown on the October bill, I have a large credit on my account, as I pay Edison perhaps three times a year. So this is probably why I have not received a past due notice. By my calculation, that credit balance should have been used up in three months, i.e., in January 2022.

I have a natural gas powered backup generator sufficient to power my whole house and shop. My calculation of the daily natural gas fuel charges to run this generator comes to about the same amount the Edison charges me per day. If Edison turns off my service for non payment, they just cut their throat.

Since I have the old style rotating disc meter via the opt out, Edison does not have the capability to remotely turn off my electrical service, as is now provided in the new digital meters.

I got a whopper of a 3 month bill from SCE in Jan. then got another smaller bill in Feb. The thing of it is, if you look at the back of the bill, it shows them billing twice for the same time frame (month to month); it doesn't make any sense, And the gas bill was delayed also (2 months), and quite large. We get paper bills.

They do bill twice for the same time period now, because one charge is for delivery of the electricity (via SCE-maintained infrastructure ), and the other charge is for the electricity itself, now produced by some other entity. And one month (Dec or Nov 2021) they did not include the electricity generation charge, so it showed up on the following bill, making that bill much higher than usual. Their statements are laid out poorly and not explained well (if at all).

Also, please be aware that SCE will be switching customers to their “Time of Use” plan (TOU), instead of the current Tiered Rate plan. You have to opt out of the TOU if you want to stay in the tiered rate plan. From my calculations, if you never go above the “Baseline” tier, you are better off sticking with the tiered rate. But if you regularly use enough electricity to get into the higher-priced second or third tier, you’ll have to assess what times of day you use electricity, in order to figure which rate plan will cost you less.

AHCHOOO Thanks for the info the "Time of Use" plan...had no idea this was an upcoming change. Very rarely do I go over the baseline tier so I just called to opt out. They said I couldn't opt-out till I receive the notice that they are moving me to the "Time of Use" Plan. Also they mentioned that this notification will be going out in waves to customers over the next 3 months.

I still have not gotten a bill. I did make a payment in my usual way online. I just estimated.

On further investigation SCE online says: "Unfortunately, we don’t have an estimated date when your bill statement will be ready. Since individual customer accounts vary, billing production timing varies as well. "

However, when you do receive your bill, charges from past billing cycles will also be included in addition to charges from your current billing cycle. Once you receive your bill and need further assistance please contact us at 1-800-247-3123.

The most recent bill I can view is March 2021. I am on autopay, so automatic draws come out every month, but I can only view the one bill. That is now 15 months with no new billing information, no NEM balances, no NEM reconciliation annually. Is there a way to file some kind of complaint with CPUC? SCE has now sent me a letter that says “don’t bother to call customer service because they can’t do anything. Just be patient, and we can’t say when you might start getting bills again.”
